Inspired by the meditative nature of building blocks and jigsaw puzzles, The LU-LU Cube is an interactive typographic artifact exploring the relationship between characters in a 3D Environment.
The Name LU-LU derives from the pairing the letters L and Uwhich serve as the primary design element across four of its faces, creating a visually engaging interplay of form and structure.
"As a designer, accessibility was a key priority in creating this resource. The LU-LU Cube, crafted entirely from paper, is designed to be both visually engaging and easily attainable"
Printed using a standard, low-cost inkjet printer, this artifact can be effortlessly downloaded and enjoyed by anyone.
The fluid nature of the LU-LU Cube Project, symbolizes the duality inherent in the LGBTQ+ experience. Designed to function seamlessly in both two- and three-dimensional spaces, the cube offers a dynamic range of arrangements and compositions.
Just as two distinct letterforms can merge into a single, unified shape, queer individuals often navigate the interplay between their authentic selves and the identities they present to the world.
The true form of the letters is obscured within the design, much like how many LGBTQ+ people conceal aspects of their identity for safety, acceptance, or self-discovery.
This typographic fusion serves as a visual metaphor for the complex relationship between visibility and concealment, reflecting the nuanced journey of self-expression within the LGBTQ+ community.
